Kurdish MP calls to enact law to prevent slander against officials before being convicted
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Firhad Rasoul of the Kurdistani Alliance called the Iraqi Parliament to legislate a law that prevents the slander against officials before being convicted.
Rasoul told IraqiNews.com that “If the political forces want to reach a settlement for the political crisis then they have to move away from waging the tense political remarks through the media.”
He called on the “Parliament to enact a law that would prevent the defamation against the officials before being convicted.”
It is worth to mention that the former chairman of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Faraj al-Haidari, has demanded previously the Parliament to ratify a law that would reduce the phenomenon of launching defamation against state officials.
