2008: Violence hits 43,111 persons in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Nearly 43,111 persons were subjected to acts of violence all over Iraq throughout 2008, according to figures released by the Constitutional Freedoms and Rights Observatory. “A total of 14,519 victims were hit by violence in Baghdad, including 6,996 wounded, 4,452 arrested, 2,359 dead and 540 unknown bodies,” read a statement released by the observatory and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The statement suggested that while Baghdad was the most perilous place in Iraq throughout the past year, Duhuk province was the safest with no single incident reported.
