Iraqi-U.S. committee on detainees – human rights minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi human rights minister, Wijdan Salim, on Tuesday said that a joint Iraqi-U.S. committee has been formed to look into the cases of the 16,000 Iraqis currently detained at U.S. prisons in Iraq . “The U.S. side is represented in the committee by its forces in Iraq ,” Salim told IraqiNews.com news agency. “This issue coincides with the implementation of the Iraqi-U.S. security pact,” she said. “Folders of those detainees will be considered in dispatches, as Iraqi detention centers cannot embrace 16,000 prisoners in the same time,” she added.
