Political, foreign sides seek to stir topic of forming regions in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Iqbal al-Ghurabi of Ahrar bloc, member in the Parliamentary Regions and Provinces Committee, revealed some political sides and foreign countries seek to stir the project of forming regions for many provinces once again.

Ghurabi said that “There are some political sides and certain countries seek to arouse the topic of forming regions within Iraq every now and then.”

“Ahrar bloc does not uphold the creation of regions and divide the country into small states,” she added.

“The current situation which is infested with the political crisis is not suitable to declare the southern or eastern provinces as regions,” Ghurabi stressed.

It is worth mentioning that certain political blocs have called to from regions in provinces of Salah il-Din, Anbar, Diyala, and Basra but these calls have been confronted by objections by some other political blocs and the Iraqi people.
