Widespread corruption paralyses investment in Iraq, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Noura al-Bajari, member of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, stressed that the investment sector in Iraq does not meet the required level due to the widespread corruption in the country.

Bajari stated to IraqiNews.com that “The investors face many obstacles especially the administrative corruption,” noting that “Our committee formed a sub-committee to address the investment law and amend some important articles related to the investment, but the National Investment Commission did not adhere in attending the committee’s meetings.”

“We need three millions of residential units to end the housing crisis and that the Investment Commission did not complete the implementation of Basmaiya housing complex project which would contribute in partially alleviating the housing crisis,” she completed.
