1 killed, 2 wounded in Iraq

Iraq-Eissawi BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: One person was killed, and two others were wounded in the violent acts that took place throughout Iraq until Thursday afternoon, according to security sources that spoke to IraqiNews.com news agency. In Baghdad, a source from the police said that a roadside bomb that was planted by unknown gunmen on the highway near al-Nidhal Street, central Baghdad, went off on Thursday when the motorcade of the higher education minister was passing by. Two civilians were wounded in the explosion, and were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. For her part, Siham al-Shejeri, media manager of the higher education ministry, denied that the minister was targeted. “The explosion did not target the minister’s motorcade that was not at the location,” al-Shejeri told IraqiNews.com news agency. In Mosul city (405 km north of Baghdad), a source from the police said that unidentified armed men on Wednesday evening opened fire while driving targeting a civilian who was standing near his house in al-Rashediya area, northern Mosul.
