Election violators arrested- BOC spokesperson

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A spokesperson for Baghdad’s Operation Command (BOC) on Saturday said that security forces have arrested a number of persons who are believed to have torn apart electoral placards. “They are currently held on charges of hindering the electoral process,” Maj. Gen. Qassem Ata told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The arrests were made in accordance with judicial warrants,” Ata noted, adding that investigations are currently underway. Over 15,000 candidates from all over Iraq are competing for 440 seats in the upcoming provincial council elections, scheduled to take place on January 31. SS (P) 1
