Kurdistan RegionG: Including Police, Asayish, Interior Ministry forces within Dijla OC Rejected

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistani Regional Government announced that “Including the Police, Asayish and the security forces of the Interior Minister under the order of Dijla Operations Command is rejected issue.”

During the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Region, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Nijervan Barzani stated “The Kurdistan RegionG is committed to Iraq’s constitution and prefer peaceful dialogue to end the recent issue of Dijla Operations Command in the disputed areas.”

“There is no problem with the movement of the forces if it is related to organizing the Iraqi Army. But, there is no way to accept that the police, security and interior forces go under the order of Dijla Operations Command. It is unconstitutional,” he added.

He hoped that “The issue could be addressed through peaceful dialogue and understanding as well as commitment to Iraq’s permanent constitution.”

Earlier, The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had ordered to form Dijla Operations Command to secure disputed areas, but Kirkuk Provincial Council, governor and Kurdish leaders strongly refused such a command, saying that the province’s security is better than the other middle and southern Iraqi provinces.
