British forces set up joint checkpoint in Basra
Basra-Britain BASRA / IraqiNews.com: British forces in southern Iraq said on Monday that engineers from the Multi-National Forces finalized the establishment of a joint checkpoint in central Basra. “The checkpoint will help police forces in controlling the streets and in their cooperation with the citizens,” Bill Young told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Citizens working or living close to al-Saaodi checkpoint in central Basra should know that the nearby roads will be used in the transport of heavy equipment on Monday night and Tuesday morning,” he added. The British forces keep 4,100 troops, while Australia has 1,000 soldiers within the MNF in Iraq. SH (P)/SR 1
