Nijaifi, Canadian Ambassador discuss mutual relations

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, discussed with the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq the mutual relations and the means of developing them.

A statement by Nijaifi office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Nijaifi assured that Canada is a friend country to Iraq and the next visit of the Canadian Foreign Minister to Iraq is important to develop the bilateral relation and announcing the formal location of the Canadian embassy in Iraq.”

Regarding the current crisis between the central government and Kurdistan Region, Nijaifi said “The crisis is not settled yet and unfortunately it accompanies threats to adhere to the military actions where I will visit Kurdistan Region to achieve a settlement for this crisis.”

“The Iraqi agreement over purchasing the airplanes was discussed during the meeting where Nijaifi assured that the Iraqi government is authorized to sign such agreements and we did not receive any reports over violations in this issue,” the statement concluded.
