Hakim emphasizes necessity of avoiding escalation concerning crisis between CG, Kurdistan RegionG

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, emphasized the importance of avoiding the escalation concerning the crisis between the Central Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government.

A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited “Hakim stressed the importance of receiving the occasion of the Provincial Councils elections in a calm atmosphere due its importance as one of the manifestations of the democracy in Iraq.”

“Hakim received the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, at the latter’s office in Baghdad where both sides expressed their readiness to exert their efforts to support unity among the Iraqis,” the statement added.

“Nijaifi reviewed the efforts to reduce tensions between the CG and the Kurdistan RegionG, assuring reaching a compromise concerning withdrawing the military forces of the two sides and presenting a work plans to be discussed by a specialized committees,” the statement continued.

“Hakim confirmed that importance of endorsing the significant law drafts by the parliament and activating its supervisory role,” the statement concluded.
