Baghdad

Service project launched in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Two local companies on Saturday initiated work on a project to develop a residential neighborhood in Kut city at a total cost of over 8 billion Iraqi dinars, according to a local media source. “The project will be financed through the 2008 provincial development projects’ budget,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The project includes the establishment of sewage, water, communications and postal networks. A Shiite province, Wassit, 180 km south of Baghdad, is in the east of the country. Its name comes from the Arabic word meaning “middle,” as it lies along the Tigris about midway between Baghdad and Basra. SS (P) 1
