Integrity Commission: corrupt contractor netted in Diyala

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The relevant authorities arrested contractor in Diyala province over charges related to stealing IQD 800 million from the state treasury.

A statement by the Integrity Commission cited “The suspect received from Diyala Governorate cheque of IQD 194 million as a payment to implement constructions in Baqouba city; however he manipulated the figure into IQD 994 million he received from a bank.”

“The speed and accuracy of the measures helped arresting the suspect and preventing him from utilizing the stolen sum of money and bring it back to the state treasury,” the statement concluded.
