Iraqi Justice Minister calls Parliament to speed up endorsing prisoners exchange agreement with KSA

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Minister of Justice, Hassan al-Shimmari, called the Iraqi Parliament to speed up ratifying the agreement of exchanging prisoners with Saudi Arabia, ruling out, at the same time, concluding a protocol by the Ministry of Interior with Saudi Arabia concerning moving the convicts as it is a legal violation.

Shimmari stated to Iraqi News “The protocol cannot be adopted among countries to exchange prisoners but it must be approved by the parliament through concluding an agreement in this regard.”

“The prisoners exchange agreement that was concluded earlier with KSA is now before the Iraqi Parliament for voting, he added.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi Justice Ministry has announced in last March the conclusion of an agreement with KSA to exchange prisoners.
