Sadr stresses supporting Christian Community in Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, stressed the importance of supporting the Christian Community in Iraq.
In a press conference held at the building of Saydat al-Najat Church in central Baghdad after visiting it accompanied by a delegation from Ahrar bloc on Friday morning, he confirmed “We must emphasize the role of the Christian Community in Iraq and stress supporting it in the current stage.”
Concerning the demonstrations in Anbar, he said “We support the right of the masses in conducting peaceful demonstrations but these demonstrations must be not politicized or involved slogans against Iraq and its people.”
Earlier, the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, received Sadr on last Friday.
The reporter of IraqiNews.com stated “Hakim received Sadr and they discussed the political situation in the country and the current crisis as well as the regional situation.”
“The two leaders held a press conference where Hakim called to adopt dialogue to respond to the constitutional demands while Sadr urged the Government to unify the stances to build Iraq,” the reporter concluded.
