Iraq sticks to its only candidate for OPEC’s Secretary General post

Bagghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq renewed its adherence to its candidate Thamir al-Ghadban for the post of the Secretary General of the OPEC.

The News Center within the Iraqi Media Network reported Ghadban who serves as head of the Advisors Board at the Premier office, as saying “Iraq is still adherent to nominating its only candidate for the post of the Secretary General of the OPEC.”

“The competition on this position is limited to candidates from Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia but the failure to get a consensus on one of those candidates prevented the selection of one of them,” he added.

Ghadban had assumed the post of Oil Minister after 2003 before his current office.
