Transport minister opens concrete beams factory in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Minister of Transport Amir Abdul Jabbar on Wednesday opened the railway concrete beams factory in Baghdad, which has been rehabilitated, according to the Iraqi railways company’s media director. “The factory in al-Shaljiya region was revamped, and its capacity was increased to become 200 beams per day instead of 80,” Jawad al-Kharsan told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Iraq has been importing railway beams since 2003, when the factory was sabotaged and looted,” he said. “The factory’s current capacity of 200 pillars per day satisfies the local demand in this regard,” he added. “The factory was rehabilitated within a period of one year,” he noted.
