After meeting Maliki, Chairman of ExxonMobil Corporation meets Barzani

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, discussed with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil Corporation, Rex Tillerson, the activities of the ExxonMobil Corporation in Kurdistan Region.

A statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday cited “Barzani and the accompanying delegation visited Switzerland to participate in the International Economic Conference held in Davos.”

“During his visit, Barzani meet Tillerson where the two sides discussed the activities of ExxonMobil Corporation in Kurdistan Region in the oil field,” the statement added.

“Barzani’s delegation comprised the Deputy Premier, Emad Ahmed, the Head of the Divan of Kurdistan Region, Fuad Hussein, the Minister of the Natural Resources, Ashti Rami, the Planning Minister, Ali al-Sindi, and the head of the Foreign relations Department, Falah Mustafa in addition to some other officials,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki discussed Tillerson, the performance of ExxonMobile and its activities in Iraq.

A statement by Maliki’s media office cited on Monday “While receiving Tillerson, Maliki assured that ExxonMobil must work in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution as the oil is the wealth of all Iraqis.”

Maliki added “The Iraqis share the oil wealth extracted from any part of Iraq,” confirming that “The Ministry of Oil will work hard to resolve the problems and obstacles that face the oil companies operating in Iraq,” according to the statement.

“For his part, Tillerson emphasized his eagerness to continue and develop ExxonMobile’s work in Iraq,” noting that “It would take important resolutions in this respect,” the statement concluded.
