Shimmari supports holding parliament sessions to discuss law drafts rather than political disputes

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Spokesman of the White bloc, Kadhum al-Shimmari, supported holding the parliament session to discuss the law drafts rather than the political disputes.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “During the previous years, the parliament failed in adopting political proposals.”

He described the parliament as “A huge institution that witnesses conflicts for the sake of the political interests,” noting that “It is better for the parliament to go on in its basic mission, which is to endorse laws and keeping it away from the political issues to avoid crises.”

“Being driven by the political disputes, the parliament will not be fruitful,” he concluded.

The Iraqi political scene witnesses escalated crisis among the political blocs over issues related to the partnership and other key issues especially between the Iraqiya Slate and the State of Law Coalition in one hand in addition to the disputes between the Kurdistani Regional Government and Central Government on the other hand.

The crisis led to demonstrations conducted in a number of provinces calling for releasing the women detainees and the prisoners, canceling Justice and Accountability Law as well as Article 4 of Anti-Terrorism Law in addition to ensuring the balance and other demands.
