EU Ambassadors express concerns over possible civil war in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A statement by the Sadr Trend confirmed “The European Union Ambassadors expressed their concerning during a meeting with representatives of the Sadr Trend over possible civil war to take place in Iraq.”

The statement that was received by IraqiNews.com quoted the head of Ahrar parliament bloc, Baha al-Araji, as saying “All Ambassadors of the EU showed concerns over possible civil war, but we assured them that such a war is merely a rumor since it will not happen at all.”

“Araji stressed that even if such a war takes place, the Sadr Trend will not be a part of it,” the statement added.

“Araji emphasized the impossibility of such war since the religious authorities as well as the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, in addition to the national figures reject it,” the statement concluded.

The meeting was attended by all the EU Ambassadors in response to an invitation by the Political Bureau of the Sadr Trend.
