Security plan in 3 southern provinces for elections

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: A central security plan was drafted which will include the police commands of Missan, Thi-Qar, and Samawa, in coordination with Iraqi army forces and the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), to protect electoral centers in the three provinces, Missan’s police commander said on Sunday. “The plan divides the three provinces into three rings,” Brigadier Saad Harbiya told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The first (inner) ring will be the responsibility of the Interior Ministry forces,” he said. “The second (outer) ring will be the responsibility of the Defense Ministry, and will incorporate protecting roads, intersections, bridges, and high buildings,” he added. “The third ring will be assigned to the Multi-National Forces (MNF) who will intervene in case of any emergencies,” he noted. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. MH (P)/SR 1
