Security plan to protect electoral centers in Ninewa

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A tight security plan has been developed to protect electoral centers in al-Hamadaniya district in Ninewa during the upcoming provincial council elections, scheduled to take place later this month, an official security source said on Thursday. “The al-Hamadaniya police on Thursday (Jan. 22) implemented a security plan by putting concrete blocs in front of the electoral centers to protect them during the upcoming provincial councils elections,” Colonel Fares Ablahad told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The electoral centers in al-Shiekhan, al-Hamadaniya, and Bartala districts and their villages are under our responsibility,” he explained. Al-Hamadaniya is located 30 km east of Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, which lies 405 km north of Baghdad. The provincial council elections are due to be held on January 31 in 14 out of 18 Iraqi provinces.     SH (P)/SR   1
