Mosul traffic ban not lifted yet – source

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: The traffic ban in the city of Mosul was not lifted yet, according to a security source within the Ninewa Operations Command (NOC) on Sunday. “No vehicles are allowed or granted access in the city,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. A traffic ban was imposed in Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, 405 km north of Baghdad, within preparations for local elections since Friday. The ban should be lifted today. Ballot stations in 14 Iraqi provinces have closed their doors at 06:00 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31) after 11-hour marathon voting with high turnout from the country’s 15 million eligible voters to choose candidates for the provincial councils amidst quiet all over Iraq save some incidents in some of the areas, according to observers.
