Sadr does not support any electoral slate – release

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The head of the Sadrist movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, has denied support for or links to any of the blocs participating in the upcoming provincial elections, according to a release that was distributed by his office in Najaf yesterday night. “They do not belong to us at all,” the release that was received by IraqiNews.com quoted al-Sadr as saying. “Anyone who claims anything else is a liar,” he added in the release that carried his stamp. The Sadrist movement had announced that it would support independent slates in the upcoming provincial council elections, scheduled to take place early next year. MH (P) / SS 1
