French journalist, Dendoune, leaves Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The French journalist, Nadir Dendoune, left Baghdad after dropping the charges against him by the Iraqi judiciary.

A statement by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate received by IraqiNews.com on Monday quoted the head of the Syndicate, Muayad al-Lami, as sying “Dendoune left Iraqi on Sunday night on a flight of the Austrian Airways.”

Earlier, the Iraqi judiciary dropped the charges against Dendoune who was arrested in Baghdad for talking snapshots without permission.

The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate announced that ”The Iraqi judiciary dismissed the lawsuit that was filed against the French journalist, Nadir Dendoune, who was detained in Baghdad then he was released on February 15th on a financial bail.”

The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate quoted the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Muayad al-Lamy, as saying ”The Iraqi judicial authority decided to dismiss the lawsuit that was filed against the French journalist and the Iraqi person accompanying him and to hand him over all his personal stuff.”

”The Journalist Syndicate continued its efforts in coordination with the Journalist Association of France and the French Embassy to Iraq in addition to the concerned authorities including the Iraqi judicial authority, to close the lawsuit permanently and all its related items,” he added. \
