Supreme Population Council headed by Maliki formed

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Planning and Development, Ali Yusif al-Shukri, announced the formation of the Supreme Population Council under the chairmanship of the Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and membership of 11 ministers.

A statement by the ministry quoted Shukri as saying “The Supreme Population Council was formed according to the proposal of the Ministry of Planning presented in 2012.”

He added that “The objectives behind establishing this council are to develop medium and long-term population’s visions and prepare a strategy for the population to be adopted when identifying the goals of the national development strategy that ensures creating society free of population imbalances and enjoys the desired welfare.”
