IAF should not hold on to speaker’s position – Sadrist MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A spokesperson for the Sadrist parliamentary bloc on Tuesday called on the Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) not to hold on to the position of the Iraqi council of representatives’ speaker. “I call on the IAF not to accuse any bloc or political figure of opposing their nominee for the position of parliament’s speaker,” lawmaker Ahmed al-Masaodi told IraqiNews.com. “Most of the lawmakers have agreed that the IAF was dismantled after the withdrawal of the National Dialogue Council, and a number of figures from the front,” he said. “The Sadrist bloc would support any nominee for this position from any bloc who puts the national interest as a priority,” he added.
