Maliki urges Arab world to reassess changes in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Wednesday reiterated his government’s willingness to boost its relations with the Arab world, calling on its states to reassess the “transformations” that he said are currently taking place in the country. “We are pleased with visits by Arab officials to Iraq because we want to foster our relations with all Arab countries,” a statement received by IraqiNews.com quoted Maliki as saying during his meeting with the Arab League’s envoy to Baghdad, Hani Khalaf. “The situation is now under control. We have got rid of sectarianism and reinforced national unity, and we are opening the door to cooperation with our Arab brothers…,” Maliki added, according to the statement. SS (P) 1
