Barazani calls for stronger Arab-Kurdish fraternity
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barazani on Thursday called for enhancing “cooperation” between Arabs and Kurds and more efforts to “solve problems on the basis of the constitution”. “Relations between the Kurdish and Arab people are historical, cultural, social and religious and boasted joint political objectives and ambitions for freedom, human rights and democracy,” Barazani said in a message to popular and official Arab circles on the occasion of the new Hegira and Gregorian years. “What really brings about relief is that the two sides have agreed on peaceful coexistence on a basis of a flourishing free democracy and political, legal and constitutional recognition of the Kurdistan people’s rights to run their own affairs within a federal union,” he said in his message received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The Iraqi Kurdish leader said the new Iraq is “offering a fine democratic experiment after the country was freed from dictatorships and chauvinistic policies,” adding “this experiment will be a trailblazer for the peoples and nations of the Islamic Orient”.
