Deputy PM calls on UN to make elections success

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi deputy premier Rafeaa al-Isawi on Saturday received the special representative of the United Nations Secretary General in Iraq (SRSG), calling on the international organization to work on making upcoming provincial election on January 31st 2009 a success, according to a release issued by al-Isawi’s office. “We trust your professional staff in Baghdad and the provinces,” the release that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency quoted al-Isawi as addressing Staffan de Mistura. “We praise your positive role in helping the Iraqi people, and we hope that your efforts will help our new democracy succeed with honesty and transparency,” al-Isawi added.
