Khalil describes Shahristani’s policy as failed

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Mahma Khalil of Kurdistani Alliance described the policy followed by the Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani as failed where he practice sticks and carrots policy against the progress achieved by Kurdistan Region.

Khalil stated to IraqiNews.com on Thursday “The Iraqi government could settle the crisis over paying the dues of the oil companies working in Kurdistan Region if it has earnest intention and good will to do that,” noting “After he failed in resolving the energy and electricity file in Iraq, Shahristani practice today, the sticks and carrot policy against the advance achieved by the Region.”

He stressed that “We will not submit to that policy being used against the Kurds.”

“If the government insisted on not paying the financial dues of the foreign oil companies operating in Kurdistan Region, then we will file lawsuit to demand compensating the Region 17% of the total oil revenues since the formation of the Iraqi state,” Khalil concluded.
