Timimi accuses Maliki of exploiting protests for electoral purposes

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Ali Timimi of Ahrar bloc associated to Sadr Trend accused the Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki of exploiting the current protests in Iraq to gain the trust of the masses for electoral purposes.

Timimi told Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Thursday “The continuity of the protests would negatively affect the whole political process as these demonstrations are exploited for electoral aims to win sympathy following these protests.”

“The right of demonstration is guaranteed constitutionally,” he added noting “But, there is shortcoming in meeting those demonstrations’ demands where the ministerial commission formed to consider the demonstrators’ demands started to procrastinate some of these demands.”
