Kurdistan RegionG intends to turn Halabja district into province

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistan Regional Government announced its intention to transfer Halabja district into a province.The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nejirvan Barzani, stated during the international conference of Genocide, which was held in Erbil at the 25th anniversary of Halabja bombing, that “We are working hardly in analyzing the legal side of the suggestion related to turning Halabja district into a province.”A campaign was launched in Erbil in 2012 to collect signatures to transfer Halabja district into a province while the Mayor of Halabja reported that a wide campaign took place in the district supporting the suggestion. \
