IHEC refers Anbar PC’s request of postponing local elections to Security Commission

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Independent High Electoral Commission announced on Sunday referring the request of Anbar Provincial Council over postponing the next local elections to the Supreme Security Commission within the IHEC.

The spokesperson of the IHEC, Safa al-Musawi, said in a press conference on Sunday “The IHEC discussed during its meeting of Sunday, the request forwarded by Anbar PC which demands postponing the upcoming provincial elections in the province for security reasons.”

“After the request was studied, the Commissioners Board stressed that affirming the presence or the absence of the security stability in Anbar comes within the specialization of the IHEC’s Security Commission which in turn, submits its reports to the federal government,” Musawi added.

“The IHEC confirms completing all the technical arrangements related to the next local elections for the 14 provinces including Anbar,” he concluded.
