IIP describes postponing local elections in Anbar, Nineveh as disappointing

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Islamic Party/ Anbar Wing, described the Iraqi Cabinet’s decision over postponing the local elections in Anbar and Nineveh as disappointing and coup on the political process in Iraq.

A statement by the IIP stressed on Wednesday “This decision was made by certain sides in Anbar and Nineveh which have suspicious relations with the ruling parties in Baghdad.”

“The previous two parliamentary elections as well as the local elections were conducted in a security situation worse than the current one,” the Party added expressing “Rejection to this resolution which represents a decline in handling the peaceful transition of power.”

“The IIP called on all the political sides, civil society organizations and the tribal forces to stand against all those who offended their provinces yesterday who want to keep their powers as long as possible,” the statement concluded.
