Annual prisons report for 2008 next week – minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s human rights minister revealed on Thursday that an annual report on the Iraqi prisons and detention centers for the year 2008 will be issued next week, terming it as “positive” compared to the previous two years. “The report contains a comparative study on the work of ministries concerned with human rights issues during the year 2008 and the previous two years,” Wijdan Mikhail Salim told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The study was prepared by the ministries of interior, defense, justice and labor & social affairs, which cooperate in the application of human rights activities, particularly in the health, service and sports domain,” she added. Salim pointed out that her ministry would issue another report within the next couple of weeks on the victims of violence during 2008. AmR (P) 1
