Kobler: No democracy without local elections in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, expressed his deep concerns over the decision of postponing the local elections in Anbar and Nineveh provinces.

A statement by the UNAMI quoted Kobler as saying “No democracy without elections, and the citizens in these two provinces have high hopes on these elections.”

“The United Nations appeals the Independent High Electoral Commission to ensure conducting the upcoming local elections in their specified date,” he added.
