NDF puts forward candidate for speaker

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi National Dialogue Front (NDF) has nominated MP Mohammed Tamim for the position of the Iraqi Parliament’s speaker, an Iraqi parliamentarian said on Tuesday. “Tamim was nominated for his efficiency following deliberations that lasted two weeks…,” MP Fallah Hassan Zidan told IraqiNews.com news agency. Mahmoud al-Mashhadani stepped down as Parliament speaker following a heated argument with members of parliamentary committees, during which he allegedly used “offensive” language that prompted many parliamentarians to call for his resignation. On Monday (12/1), MP Osama al-Nujaifi from the Iraqi National List (INL) said that his parliamentary bloc has officially nominated him for the position of the council of representatives’ speaker. The National Dialogue Front, led by Saleh al-Motlak, holds 11 seats in the 275-member Parliament. SS (P) 1
