Maliki: Iraq faces security, political, economic risks due to extremist, unilateral cultures

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki stressed that “Iraq faces security, political and economic risks due to extremist and unilateral cultures.”

A statement by Maliki’s office quoted him as saying during receiving Iraqi intellectuals and writers from inside and outside Iraq “The Iraqi intellectuals lived hard times during the former regime that forced him to depart their country,” noting “The sufferings of the intellectuals are still there where the culture is subject to risks of terrorism and Qaeda that led to the deterioration of the culture and migration of many intellectuals abroad.”

“Holding Baghdad cultural festival represents new start and indicates Iraq’s deep correlation with the culture,” he added noting “We seek through such festivals to unify the Arab culture.”

Maliki confirmed “Iraq confronts political, security and economic risks resulted from the unilateral cultures where some of which are adopted by the rulers while others were exported to Iraq,” arguing “The danger that threatens the countries is resulted from the corrupted cultures which in return, prepare suitable atmosphere for emergence of militias and warlords.”
