Maliki, Kuwaiti official discuss cooperation in sports

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, received on Wednesday, Ahmed al-Fahad al-Ahmed al-Sabah, the head of the International Olympic Committees Federation (ANOUK).

A statement by Maliki’s office cited on Wednesday “Maliki stressed during the meeting, the necessity to pay attention to the sports and its foundations as they are important in building the healthy generations and sound society, moreover, the sports represent symbol for national unity.”

He added “The Iraqi government is earnest to build sports institutions throughout Iraq especially the Iraqi society enjoys high rate of youth which stands for national wealth,” calling to upgrade the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations in all levels most notably the cooperation in the mutual sports activities.”

For his part, “Al Ahmed praised the considerable support presented by the Iraqi government to the sports and youth sector in Iraq, describing Basra Sports City as source of pride for the sports action.”
