PM supports tribes’ foundation conferences

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday expressed support of the foundation conferences of tribes in Iraq. Addressing the first foundation conference for Bani Asad tribe in Baghdad on Thursday (Jan. 15), the premier said “we congratulate and support the foundation conferences of the Iraqi tribes, because tribe’s unity is an important step towards Iraq’s unity.” Bani Asad tribe constitute the largest population in Karbala city. They are centered in the central and western parts of the city, and include prominent figures, like Ayman al-Asadi. Bani Asad Bin Khazeema is an ancient Arab tribe that moved from the central part of the Arab Peninsula to Iraq at the time of the Islamic conquests. SH (P)/SR 1
