MP urges Arab states to forgive Iraq’s debts

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A parliamentarian from the foreign relations committee on Tuesday called on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to write off Iraq’s debts in an attempt to boost their relations with it. “We, parliamentarians, hope that Kuwait and Saudi Arabia follow in the footsteps of other countries that canceled Iraq’s debts to them because the Iraqi people did not have a hand in the wars they fought against its neighbors,” MP Iyad al-Samarraie from the Iraqi National List (INL) told IraqiNews.com news agency. “We also call on Saudi Arabia to speed up the return of its diplomatic representation in Iraq,” the parliamentarian added. The Iraqi National List holds 19 seats in the 275-member Parliament. SS (P) 1
