Iraq’s FM in Turkey to meet senior officials

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari arrived in Ankara on Thursday night, leading a high-profile delegation in response to an invitation from his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan, according to a foreign ministry’s statement on Friday. “The minister will hold a series of meetings on means to bolster bilateral ties and the joint coordination to implement the strategic declaration of bilateral relations between the two countries, which was signed during the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Baghdad,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Hoshyar’s talks will dwell also on the latest developments in the region, mainly the border’s security and fighting terrorism,” it added. Last July 10, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in Baghdad and announced during a joint press conference with al-Maliki the establishment of the higher council for strategic cooperation between Iraq and Turkey.
