Undersecretaries’ council discusses alternative revenue sources to oil

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Secretary General of the Iraqi council of ministers Ali al-Allaq on Tuesday called for accuracy and precision in considering some strategic cases, such as alternative revenue sources to oil, explaining that such cases should be examined by a specialized committee, as per a release issued by the council. “The experiences of other countries should be employed in this regard,” the release quoted al-Allaq saying during the second session of the undersecretaries’ council in 2009, held on Monday (Jan. 26). “France agreed to cooperate in this respect,” he added. According to the release, al-Allaq assigned a number of undersecretaries involved in this issue to provide a proposal about the committee that formulate a plan as to how to improve alternative sources other than oil to fund the Iraqi budget.
