KA seeks to change elections law – MP

Iraq-KA BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the Kurdistan Alliance, Mahmoud Othman, said on Tuesday that his bloc seeks to change the parliamentary elections law, noting that the current law caused the Kurds to lose more than ten seats in the parliament. “Holding elections under the current law will lead to losing separated votes, however amending the law will allow all separated votes from different lists to be counted,” Mahmoud Othma told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The KA is awaiting for election of a new speaker and voting on the budget in the new legislative term before suggesting any amendments to the law,” he added. KA has 53 seats out of the 257-seat Parliament. SH (P)/SR 1
