SLC MP calls to reform MoD, MOI to control security file in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Salih al-Asadi, of the State of Law Coalition called to reform the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior in addition to reselect the security leaders in order to control the security file in Iraq.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “There is a negligence in the performance of the security forces and the government and the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Nouri al-Maliki, hold a part of the responsibility, but the security file needs the efforts of all sides to be completed where the security breaches are done with the help of some governmental and security institutions.”

“There are some key officials enjoy their parties and share their incomes from the deals that they do,’ he added.

“The administrational and financial corruption is one of the reasons behind the disturbed security situation where half of the security elements do not show up in their military divisions by paying some of their salaries to their commanders,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that a report by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq stated that 1609 Iraqis have been killed and injured in March 2013.
