Special voting ends in 14 Iraqi provinces

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Polling stations closed at 05:00 p.m. today in 14 Iraqi provinces, ending special voting that included 614,998 persons throughout the country. The voting process began at 07:00 a.m. and lasted nearly 10 hours to enable security personnel, hospital inmates, prisoners and detainees to elect their representatives in the provincial council elections, which will be held on a larger scale this Saturday. Provincial elections are held in 14 out of Iraq’s 18 provinces, with Iraq’s Kurdistan region and Kirkuk city excluded from the voting process. SS (P)/SR 1
