UK shows concerns over human rights situation in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The British embassy in Iraq described the human rights situation in Iraq as “still difficult”.

A statement by the embassy reported “The UK Foreign Ministry, William Hague, released the report of the UK FM over the human rights and the democracy in 2012. The report documents the intensified political and negotiating efforts exerted on the international level by the Foreign Ministries’ ministers and employees to address the violations on the human rights.”

It added “The report pinpointed positive movements in Iraq especially those steps related to the increasing joining to the issues of women and Kurdistan’s approval to the non-governmental organizations, however the progress in this respect is still slow and there are worries over the continuity of the executions in Iraq where the results show that 129 executions had been implemented in 2012 while 67 executions in 2011, and 18 executions in 2010.”
