Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The US announced its support for the visit of a delegation from the Kurdistan Region to Baghdad scheduled on tomorrow, Monday, to discuss pending issues.

A statement from the US Embassy in Baghdad, received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited that “The United States welcome the visit of the Kurdish delegation to Baghdad tomorrow and the meeting to be held between the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Nijervan Barzani.”

“The American officials have repeatedly tried to open channels of close communication with political leaders who represent all factions in Iraq in order to encourage positive steps designed to ease the current crisis.”

The statement added that “The US Embassy urge all parties to look at tomorrow’s meeting as an opportunity to take positive action towards achieving national reconciliation, which would enable Iraq to overcome the threat of terrorism, and strengthen democratic institutions in the country and achieve prosperity for all Iraqis.”

A delegation from Kurdistan Region chaired by Barzani is scheduled to visit Baghdad to discuss the article [140], the budget of the Peshmerga, the issue of oil and gas law and the rest of the outstanding issues.
