Nijaifi condemns suspending Iraqi Satellite channels

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, condemned the decision issued by the Media and Communications Authority to suspend several satellite channels considering it as a clear threat for freedom of expression.A statement issued by the Media Office of Nijaifi received by IraqiNews.com cited ”We condemn and denounce the decision taken by the Media and Communications Authority, related to suspending several Iraqi satellite channels,” stressing that “The decision is considered as a clear threat for freedom of expression in Iraq and completely incompatible with the concept of democracy.””This decision will arouse many suspecious since Iraq is currently passing through a tense phase that requires all the media efforts to expose the breaches and follow up the senior figures’ involvement in corruption,” the statement added.Nijaifi demanded to “reconsider the decision and granting Media outlets more freedom.” \END\
